For those of you that aren’t familiar with this classic tale, swept away in a tornado, Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are taken to the magical land of Oz. It’s here, Dorothy embarks on a journey to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard of Oz, a great and powerful figure who everyone says can grant her a return home to Kansas.As she skips along the golden path, Dorothy meets some memorable characters including a Scarecrow in search of a brain, a Tin Man needing a heart and a Lion seeking courage. Together they form an unlikely team, developing a strong friendship, prevailing over wicked opponents and discovering that their desires were never lost.
“The cast is excited to bring this show to life,” said Dan Decker, Director of the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company. “This is the perfect show for the entire family.”
The Wizard of Oz is the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company’s (LVSC) third collaboration with the City of Henderson. In October 2010, the local, professional non-profit theatre group performed a successful four-Saturday, four-park travelling tour of the City’s signature event, Shakespeare in the Park. In addition, the company was chosen to present an original holiday production in December during WinterFest.
